Hola amigos y amigas ...
Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo is;a voluntarily observed holiday that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn.[2][3] It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and in the United States.[4][5][6][7] While Cinco de Mayo has limited significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.[8] Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day,[9] the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico.[10]
Oh, and such an especial Cinco de Mayo this year, with the backdrop of the budding fascism in Arizona.
Seth Meyers, on SNL last week, had one of the better riffs on it;Myers: This week, Arizona signed the toughest illegal immigration law in the country which will allow police to demand identification papers from anyone they suspect is in the country illegally. I know there’s some people in Arizona worried that Obama is acting like Hitler, but could we all agree that there’s nothing more Nazi than saying "Show me your papers?" There’s never been a World War II movie that didn’t include the line "show me your papers." It’s their catchphrase. Every time someone says "show me your papers," Hitler’s family gets a residual check. So heads up, Arizona; that’s fascism. I know, I know, it’s a dry fascism, but it’s still fascism.

The Major League Baseball Players Union is against the new law...
Even Texas Governor Rick Perry is "Freaked Out".
And, just yesterday, Phoenix Sun owner Robert Sarver announced the team will wear "Los Suns" jerseys of their playoff match-up with San Antonio (and Sun player Steve Nash chipped in that "I think the law is very misguided.")
So, for Cinco de Mayo, we go with a tune, while not definitively Mexican, and we, fairly recently posted it, it is in the spirit of the day, sure to get your toes tappin'

'Tis The Season ... White Christmas
Thanks to the wall-to-wall snowfall this weekend, it will be a White Christmas, for a whole bunch of folks, from North Carolina, to New Hampshire.
And, we did our part, shoveling, just about 12-inches of it yesterday.
And, they did something other than shoveling, down in the the Nation's capital, where there was a "Twitter Snowball Fight", complete with firearms (shoot, when we were kids, people just got out of their cars, empty-handed, and chased you a block, or two)
So, between the on-going recovery from that, and a somewhat jammin' day otherwise, on the Homefront, we will kick off getting into the season's spirit, on this first, official day of Winter.
I believe we posted this last year, but that doesn't matter ... It's The Bird, and a kick-ass tune

Editor's Note ... Baby It's Cold Outside
Yes, mucho cold ... Teens, with wind chill below zero.
After this weekend of shoveling snow (it snowed her from Friday, around noon, until after 7PM last evening, with rain, or frozen rain, mixing in, just to add that little bit of extra weight), we were running, somewhat, low in the energy department.
So, that means we didn't get around to posting everything we would have liked to have posted.
Today (and, perhaps) tomorrow, we'll play catch-up, finishing off those partial-written posts, and get them up, along with anything new that comes down the line.
And, if you are going out, bundled up!
Peace

White Christmas
Happy 1st Day of Winter!
And, another Snow Alert today!
Actually, it hasn't stopped snowing, here in Boston, since Friday.
We've had a light, sometimes very light, snowfall ongoing, adding another 1-inch+ to the pile, and this will segue, or give way, to the storm coming up the coast, and dumping another half-a-foot on us, before, possibly, turning to rain (followed by extremely frigid air, so everything will freeze to hardness of cement - wonderful).
Since this is about it, as to any snow for the big Christmas Day, we will give you this absolute treat today.
For many of you, it's possible you have never heard this standard holiday classic, 'White Christmas' quite this way.
It's a gem ... Kick back and enjoy!

Sleigh Ride
Well, as we noted yesterday, we got blanketed with about a foot of snow.
We did one round of shoveling last evening, and, will be heading out shortly to do another (basically, having to shovel about the same amount done yesterday ... Better in shifts, as it wasn't as "light and powdery" as predicted).
So, while we are toiling in the cold and wind, time for another Christmas Tune, to assist you of getting into the swing of the season.
Snap you fingers, and don't be bashful of humming and singing along.
We'll be back later in the day with some posts.
Enjoy!

Let Me Cover The Point, and Put Another $2G's on Half-A-Foot ...
Global Warming? ... What Global Warming! ...
Yeah, sure, we always look forward to the beginning of Winter, and seeing the snow storm reports - from Las Vegas!
Road closures extend overnight; county schools cancel classesA rare winter storm swept through Southern Nevada Wednesday, dumping the most snow on the valley in nearly three decades, grounding flights at the airport, forcing the closure of major highways and closing schools for today.
Hmmm ...
"This is the most snow we've had in Las Vegas in almost 30 years," said Chris Stachelski, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "It's a significant historical event."
Outgoing flights at McCarran International Airport were grounded Wednesday afternoon because of the snowfall and poor visibility. Incoming flights were cancelled, said Ian Gregor, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.
Gregor said the airport doesn't have snow removal or deicing equipment, which means there's no way for snow-covered planes to leave safely.
I wonder how many casinos opened up books, and took bets, on what the final snow fall amount would be?
Since it's Vegas, and the Season, and snow is not what we typically put together with Vegas, I think we have the perfect soundtrack to offer, that is, well, so, so Vegas.
Maybe they're already singing this along the Strip ...
