Sorry, Garlic Fans, for the lack-of-posting, yesterday.
We were jammed up on the homefront (as we will be, again, today), and, as a bonus, it as a spectacularly beautiful day ... An Ernie-Banks-Let's Play-Two-Today kind of day ...
There's a good a good Frank Rick column today, on our Ran Kan Kan man, the implications of the his, and the Teabaggers, warped views.
So, until later (either tonight, or tomorrow), here's a tune that will go with your morning coffee, and have you humming its' melody the rest of the day.
Enjoy!

Open Doors, But Blocked Sinuses
Good Evening Garlic Fans
Sorry, for the lack-of-posts the past few days.
The relentless cold weather has been playing havoc with our sinuses, to the point it is extremely difficult to feel good, let alone, creative.
So we have just tanked it, staying off the computer, and attempting to medicate, and chill out.
Today, we interrupted our plan, with the need of getting our front door fixed, by a Master Locksmith.
We are planning to be back on duty tomorrow
In the meantime, we start pining, for warmer weather;

So Nice ... The Very Last Moments of Jesse Helms
I'd like to think that Jesse Helms was crippled with dementia, perhaps drooling on himself, when, in a sudden moment of crystal-clear lucidity, he saw a headline, or caught some cable news, and it became knowledge to him, that the country is on the verge of electing an African-American president and, BOOM!, his brain explodes, oxygen shuts down, and he's gone.
Actually, Andrew Sullivan was on the same path today, with his "Jesse Helms At An Obama Rally".
And, yesterday, Martin Lewis, over on The Huffington Post, rang in with the winner-of-the-day;He's a Yankee Doodle Jesse
(Check out the Lewis post, "Jesse Helms: Yankee Doodle Jesse", he quotes the distinguished racist at length)
A Yankee Doodle do or die
A real live nephew of the Ku Klux Klan
Died on the Fourth of July...
Now, it would have been infinitely better, if he lasted until Election Night, so nice it would be, after his life-long record of vile hate, that the last thing Jesse Helms learned, was that Barack Obama is to be the next President of the United States.
Yes, that would be so nice ...
Bonus "Ding Dong, The Racist Senator Is Dead" Riffs
Tbogg: Hell gets a little more crowded
Wonkette: Hell Jesse Helms Finally Dead
Pam Spaulding: Bye, Jesse, you left quite a legacy
Matthew Yglesias: Helms' Vision of Freedom
Ron Beasley: A New Paradigm
Teddy Partridge - Jesse Helms: Bigot, Racist, Homophobe
Bonus Bonus
In an effort to help erase this from your minds, to think of something much more pleasant and pleasing, we turn to Astrud Gilberto

The New Hillary Soundtrack
Much as been made of Hillary Clinton's 3AM Fearmongering Ad (and, yes, The Garlic was in on the making).
And, of course, there was yesterday's launch, by The Washington Post, to undermine Obama and create a rallying cry for Hillary.
So, what's lacking here is a soundtrack ... Some good music to carry the day.
We found, what we believe, is the right song, for the right moment (and we don't even have to change the lyrics)
Call MeIf you're feeling sad and lonely
There's a service I can render
Tell the one who loves you only
I can be so warm and tender
Call me, don't be afraid, you can call me
Maybe it's late, but just call me
Tell me, and I'll be around ...
When it seems your friends desert you
There's somebody thinking of you
I'm the one who'll never hurt you
Maybe that's because I love you
Call me, don't be afraid, you can call me
Maybe it's late, but just call me
Tell me, and I'll be around ...
Now don't forget me
'Cause if you let me
I will always stay by you
You've got to trust me
That's how it must be
There's so much that I can do ...
If you call I'll be right with you
You and I should be together
Take this love I long to give you
I'll be at your side forever
Call me, don't be afraid, you can call me
Maybe it's late, but just call me
Tell me and I'll be around ...
Here's one of the better renditions of the song, by Astrud Gilberto, with Walter Wanderley
