Just got an email from a good friend, who hipped me to a on-line poll by PBS's 'Now' program, asking the question "Do you think Sarah Palin is qualified to serve as Vice President of the United States?"
It came with the caveat, that the Right Wing was bag-jobbing it, stacking the vote for Mommy Moose (I just voted, and, incredulously, the "Yes" vote for Mommy Moose was ahead, 50% to 49%).
Yeah, right ...
The typical PBS demo is going to stand behind the Whiz from Wasilla...

H/T to Will Bunch, over on Attytood, for this;
Michael Palin for President
Considering the Stumblin' Bumblin' McCain camp got confused when he first announced Mommy Moose, I suppose it could be reasonable there's a measurable number of people out there that believe Monty Python is looking to take over the White House.
On another point, how eerily similar is the classic Python "Argument" routine mirroring the McCain crew these days?

Yeah... But Was She A Good Tipper?
Boy, you might except something like this from a Congressman, or even a low-life City Councilor, but the Governor of a state?
Palin Bilked Alaskan Taxpayers $16,941 ‘Per Diem’ To Stay Home At Her HouseMaverick small-government conservative Sarah Palin charged Alaskan taxpayers $16,941 to spend 312 nights of her first 19 months as governor at her own house in Wasilla. Governor Palin has an official mansion in the capital, Juneau, but she’s happier making Alaska’s citizens pay her $54.33 a night to sleep in her own bed.
Christ, think of the cost, should the sky fall and and pigs fly (and yes, a pig with lipstick!), and Stumblin' Bumblin' John McCain gets the secret code on how to steal votes and actually wins this thing ...
The Per Diem cost to have Mommy Moose working the VP office from her home up there in Alaska will be astronomical!
Jane Hamsher (who beat me to the punch on the title), over on Firedoglake, has more.
Nice Work If You Can Get It: Palin Paid Herself To Live At HomeIn 1988, the head of the state Commerce Department was pilloried for collecting a per diem charge of $50 while staying in his Anchorage home, according to local news accounts. The commissioner, the late Tony Smith, resigned amid a series of controversies.
Hmmm ...
"It was quite the little scandal," said Tony Knowles, the Democratic governor from 1994 to 2000. "I gave a direction to all my commissioners if they were ever in their house, whether it was Juneau or elsewhere, they were not to get a per diem because, clearly, it is and it looks like a scam -- you pay yourself to live at home," he said.
Palin and her husband both make six-figure incomes. They don't need to be chiseling the state for this money to live, and she sure isn't entitled to be running on fiscal responsibility when she's pocketing cash in a way that has a history of being regarded in Alaska as a "scam."
In the "Original Mavericks Handbook for Dummies", do they have a section in there for scamming petty per diems from your office?
Oh Boy!

The Lies To Nowhere Report
In case you need help sorting through the lies and fabrications coming from Stumblin' Bumblin' John McCain, and his Vice Presidential running mate, that he chased "to the gates of the Arctic Circle", Mommy Moose, aka Sarah Palin, the good folks over on Think Progress have been diligently busy.
Lies To Nowhere: The McCain Campaign’s Inaccuracies On Palin’s Bridge To Nowhere SupportFrom the day he nominated Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AZ) to be his vice presidential running mate, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and his campaign advisers have been repeating the lie that Palin opposed the infamous Bridge to Nowhere. (In fact, Palin repeatedly expressed strong support for the project.) ThinkProgress has been keeping track of these lies and compiled them here. Please let us know if we’ve missed any, and you can comment on this document here.
Here's a nugget;
The McCain campaign, however, continues to repeat the lie. ThinkProgress has put together a Lies To Nowhere report, documenting every time the McCain campaign repeats the myth that Palin opposed the Bridge to Nowhere. So far, we have counted the lie being repeated at least 18 times:Campaign Manager Rick Davis: “Congress didn’t beat back the ‘bridge to nowhere.’ … That funding was in the grant, and she said, ‘I’m not spending that money.’ And what they did — they took a $500 million bridge and she turned it into a $2 million ferry. And that’s what she did on her own without any help from anybody else.” [Fox News Sunday, 9/7/08]
Check it out, and, remain vigilant - If the Dead Campaign Express comes rolling through your area, keep track of the lies and fire them off to Think Progress's "Lies To Nowhere Report".

"I think God's will has to be done, in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that..."Good Grief! She makes Elmer Gantry look like a piker!
Though she could probably fit either role, the Jean Simmons/Sister Sharon Falconer, or Shirley Jones/Lulu Bains, if they go to remake the movie, they need to reach out, pluck Sarah Palin and call it "Elmera Gantry".
Check this out, from the Anchorage Daily News;
State paid for trip when Palin told students to pray for pipeline
State records show that Palin submitted a travel authorization for a quick round-trip visit to attend the June 8 graduation of the Master's Commission program at the Wasilla Assembly of God, the church where she was baptized at age 12. The only other item on the agenda for that trip was a "One Lord Sunday" service involving a network of Mat-Su Christian churches earlier that morning at the Wasilla sports complex.
"What I need to do is strike a deal with you guys as you go out throughout Alaska -- I can do my part in doing things like working really, really hard to get a natural gas pipeline." Palin said. "Pray about that also. I think God's will has to be done, in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that. But I can do my job there, in developing our natural resources, and doing things like getting the roads paved, making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded.Isn't this sacrilegious, against one of the Ten Commandants?
"But really, all of that stuff doesn't do any good if the people of Alaska's hearts isn't right with God. And that's going to be your job," she said. "As I'm doing my job, let's strike this deal. Your job is going to be: to be out there, reaching the people, (the) hurting people throughout Alaska, and we can work together to make sure God's will be done here."
If not, praying for, and striking a deal to get others to pray for a pipeline sure inches pretty close to that "Thou shall not put false gods before me" thing.
"Making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns ..."
Well, yes, perhaps ... All but one, that is ...
There's vibes in there also (videos posted below) of Iraq being "God's work"
Think about the implications of Stumblin' Bumblin' John McCain winning the election.
We've spent the last eight-years having our government infested and plagued by the graduates of Regent College, Pat Robertson's god factory.
Can we afford to see the fine students of the Wasilla Assembly of God taking over, if not the Injustice Department, and since they'll have had that pipeline prayer under their belts, I see them being streamlined into the Department of Energy.
They'll have so many thing to pray for, like praying that all of the American people's hearts are "right with God", so they can "Drill, Baby, Drill" (likely, they'll have to have a follow-up prayer that God's hand lets the oil gush to the high heavens).
Who knows, maybe the previous occupant of the White House, his "Higher Father" will still be hanging around, so the prayers won't have to travel far, expediting the whole thing.
So much for the separation of church and state.
No wonder their hiding her in the attic.

Noonan Gives Palin, McCain A "Full Detroit"

"I shot a moose once ..."
Well, it was Labor Day today, and despite the promise of this traditional day signaling the end-of summer being one of leisure, it was anything but that on the homefront.
So, we give in to the haunting refrain of "I shot a moose once ..."
That has been ringing in my ears, since mid-afternoon Friday, when Stumblin' Bumblin' John McCain chased his selection for vice president to the gates of the Arctic Circle, and all-but carried Sarah "Midnight Sun" Palin into Dayton, Ohio on a dog-pulled sled.
As we soon learned what the live-action-Marlin-Perkins-film the Governor of Alaska was ...
Snowmobiles ... Fishing ... Camping .... Hunting ...
And moose, as in moose burgers and moose stew.
Therefore, we go with a "Moose" post this evening, and kick it off with the aforementioned "I shot a moose once ..."
The Moose - Woody Allen
It's almost a shame, that the Bull Moose Party wasn't still around, that may have been mighty tempting to Midnight Sun (since she did have, at one time, an interest in another party).
But we digress ...
We came here to talk "moose" and "moose it will be, as in, after looking around, we did find some rather interesting "moose" links you may want to check out.Sarah Palin Totally Eats ‘Moose Burger’

McCain VP Confusion; Staff Had Canadian Actress Sarah Polley In Dayton Hotel For Three Days
Sources tell The Garlic today, that the staff of Senator John McCain was so confused over the choice of his Vice Presidential pick, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, that they had mistakenly flown award-winning Canadian actress Sarah Polley to Dayton, Ohio, and had her in a hotel for three-days, awaiting the planned announcement.
Polley was said to have been "very surprised" with being chosen by McCain, especially with her long time political activism, and that she is a member of the New Democratic Party in Canada.
Polly, an accomplished actress, had starred in such films as The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988), and The Sweet Hereafter (1997).
Additionally, Polley was nominated for an Academy Award, in the category of Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published, for the film, 'Away from Her (2006)'.
Sources say that the McCain staff had believed that "he was really going outside the box", with the choice of the Canadian Polley, and that action had been started to usher Polley through an expedited U.S. Citizenship process, so that she could appear on the ballot with McCain.
When asked by reporters on how such an error, such confusion occurred, a senior McCain staffer offered only that "The Senator as been a little prickly this week."
Polley was reported to have said that it was "nice to get a little vacation", and that she had never been to Dayton, Ohio before.
"I mean, I hung around a hotel room for three days, they had me under wraps," said Polley. "I thought, if I was going to be his Vice President, I should have been reading policy papers, and such."
Ironically, Polley had the same question as McCain's actual choice, Governor Palin, when she asked assembled reporters, "What, exactly, does a Vice President do?"
