Jason Linkins Channels Morning Joke

Apparently, for any of us that have criticized Arianna Huffington, and her Huffington Post, building her empire on the fingertips of unpaid writers, Jason Linkins, of HuffPo, today, tells us to all go back to our parents basements and eat cheetos in our underwear.

Or, that we are lazy sacks of shit who don't want "No daily hours, no deadlines, no late nights, no weekends ..."

Let's backtrack for a moment.

Also during this segment, Scarborough attacked liberal bloggers for correcting McCain’s error, saying they were probably “just sitting there, eating their Cheetos” and saying, “Let me google Anbar Awakening!” He added, “Dust flying — Cheeto dust flying all over. They’re wiping it on their bare chest while their underwear — you know, their Hanes.

Hmmmm....

Now, let swing back to today, and the Linkins lecture he doled out today on - you guessed it - Huffington Post;

Being a paid employee comes with many expectations and responsibilities. Let's run some of them down, shall we? First of all, there's this expectation that on a daily basis, you will show up and do work. In an office and everything! There you are subject to things like deadlines -- you actually have to produce writing on a regular basis. You receive assignments, from editors, that you are expected to fulfill in a timely fashion. You participate in editorial meetings. You coordinate your efforts with your colleagues. You try to break news. You try to cultivate sources. You go, whenever you are able, to where news is occurring.

Stop for a moment, class, everyone is not paying attention

Is the State of the Union tonight? You'll be working during that time. Is there a debate? Got a night of election returns coming? Plan on staying late. Did some madman just put several people in Tucson, Arizona in the hospital on a Saturday? Cancel your plans, because you've got to call in and get to work. You are, theoretically, on call, 24-7, to get the work done.
Those are the sorts of responsibilities, that, when they are fulfilled, entitle one to a "salary." And that's the life of the people who get paid to do original reporting and content for the site. And the content they produce is the most important content on the site. It's the stuff that is most widely read. It's the primary driver of everything else.

Does everybody follow that, class?

Big people do big, important jobs every day, and it's important to understand that, because when you grow up, you'll have to do big important jobs everyday, so you can get a paycheck.

Or not;

Here is where he channels Scarborough;

Now, people often wonder: why would anyone blog for free, at a place that pays other contributors? Please note, that part of what "free" entitles you to is a freedom from "having to work." No daily hours, no deadlines, no late nights, no weekends. You just do what you like when the spirit moves you.
[snip]
Of course, there remain hundreds of contributors to The Huffington Post who do so for no other reason than that they want exposure. Now, the value of "exposure," in and of itself, is a subject for debate. And it should be! But nevertheless, we have hundreds of people who want to take something they've written and put it in front of potentially millions of people, instead of their Facebook friends or their Twitter followers.

And here, Linkins bends down, to fill our bowls with some more Cheetos, and tell us to be quiet and, someday, we can eat grown-up food;

I suspect that there are a lot of blogger-contributors who are of a similar mind to me. Still others probably like having a big megaphone for their hobby. Naturally, there will probably be people who want to graduate from unpaid contributor to employee -- and where they can make a case on merit, and assume all of the responsibilities of employees, such "promotions" will be considered. But it's a dramatic change in your life to go from somebody who's writing whenever they feel up to it, to someone who has to come in and make high quality contributions on a regular basis -- even when that sporadic writing is brilliant writing. And that's the sort of thing that has to be considered before that jump is made.

Got that class?

You'll have to make "dramatic change in your life" if you want to be somebody ("I coulda had class, I coulda been a contender...") - even if you are brilliant - to earn that paycheck.

No lightweights or Cheeto-eaters need apply.

If there is a Patronizing Hall of Fame, somebody needs to nominate Jason Linkins and his trivial post.

He's a lock to make it on the first ballot.

Assforwards, For Mark Halperin

It's a wonder that Time Magazine's Mark Halperin doesn't have, permanently, the imprint of ass on his face, for his obsequious kissing (and, often, at times, firmly planted up) the PartyofNoican's behinds.

He whines, incessantly, about Obama, and the Democrats, apparently, their existence so disrupts his reality-free airspace.

He all but inserted him himself as Stumblin' Bumblin' John McCain's campaign manager, offering "Things McCain Can Do to Try to Beat Obama" include attacks on his race and name", and, as we wrote, back in August 2008, he was so over-the-top that "About the only thing missing for Time Magazine's Mark Halperin, during his appearance yesterday on 'This Week with George Stephanopoulos', was having "McCain 08" tattooed on his forehead, and the Dead Campaign Express bus parked on set, behind him."

After the losing campaign, Assboy Halperin blamed the media, for being Pro-Obama, his shrieking on it moved Bob Cesca to immediately nominate him as a "Hackery Hall of Fame Inductee".

Then he writes a book about the campaign, with John Heilemann ('Game Change'), which Glenn Greenwald noted;

"This reaction has nicely illuminated what our press corps is. The book is little more than royal court gossip, churned out by the leading practitioner of painfully sycophantic, Drudge-mimicking cattiness: Time's Mark Halperin ..."

[snip]

The real value of a book like this lies in the opportunity it presents for Washington's elite class to distract themselves and everyone else from the oozing corruption, destruction, decaying and pillaging going on -- that these same Washington denizens have long enabled. With some important exceptions, that is the primary purpose of establishment journalism generally. Even better, the book lets our media and political elite -- and then the public generally -- feel good about themselves by morally condemning the trashy exploits of Rielle Hunter and the egoistic hypocrisies of the irrelevant John and Elizabeth Edwards.

As The Nation's Chris Hayes so perfectly put it: "Just when you think the news cycle can't get any stupider, Mark Halperin publishes a book."

So, naturally, Assboy Halperin gets the A-List treatment as to bookings in the Cable Newsarama

Yesterday, with Tweety, Halperin was matched up with Salon Editor, Joan Walsh (Yeah, I know, with that stirring duo, advantage Walsh, right off the bat);

Mark Halperin: Obama must still chase GOP support
Halperin disagreed. "The biggest story in politics right now is the White House calculation, do they do things substantively and politically, to try to build bipartisan cooperation, or do they do, as Joan was suggesting, learn that they can ram things through on education, on economic development." Then things got strange; from my point of view, Halperin was describing Opposite Day reality: "They could make the choice -- rewriting the choice they made at the beginning of the administration, when they went another way, they went with an all Democratic solution -- to go for Republicans, and I think they will."

[snip]

Then Halperin asked me directly: "Would you like to see [Obama] work with Republicans -- on education, financial reform, on economic development -- or not?"

"You know what, Mark?" I answered. "Actually? 'Not.' Not for the sake of just working with Republicans." I explained how Obama worked hard to craft a bipartisan stimulus bill that was smaller than many Democrats wanted, and that was low on funding for infrastructure building programs as well as support for cities and states that were shedding cops, firefighters and teachers at the same time the stimulus money was coming down. Keeping people employed is an excellent unemployment program, I noted, but thanks to the president's efforts to win Republican votes, the Obama stimulus was too small to do more than a little of that.

Now, Mark, in the case that your computer is down, and your television has been on the fritz, it's been out there, for some time, that the PartyofNoicans, openly, have stated they will be obstructionists, that they will diss anything coming from Obama, and the Democrats.

I mean that, just exhaustively, played out the past few months, with the Healthcare Reform bill.

Even that old ass you sucked for so long, Stumblin' Bumblin' John McCain has said not to expect GOP cooperation on legislation for the rest of this year.

So really, step back out into reality, or get some professional help.

We don't want to see the day, where the bosses at Time have to hire someone to walk around with you, shadow you with a crowbar, to pry your face out of the PartyofNoican asses.

No. 3,000

Boy, they just seem to be flying by now ...

It was roughly a year ago, that The Garlic celebrated its' 2,000th post (taking a bit over three-years to achieve), and our post this morning, This Date ... On The Garlic" (which has one of our more popular post; "Top Ten Cloves: Ways To Tell Your Next Door Neighbor May Be Conducting Illegal Dogfights ) turns out to be No. 3,000.

Yikes!

Arguably, not as cool as making Baseball's 3,000 Hits Club, but, hey, I played mostly stickball as a kid, and only one year of organized baseball (in which, for some inexplicable reason, I got beaned a lot)

I guess, having a presidential campaign, and election, helped build those numbers up, thanks to Mommy Moose, Stumblin' Bumblin' John McCain, with their Dead Campaign Express, and, of course, "The Most Fabulous Object In The World", aka Hillary Clinton, I suppose, I could be open for criticism of under-achieving

A thousand posts in just over a year ...

Hmmm ... If I do about five, or six, post, per-day, I might be able to rack up another thousand before years' end ...

We'll have to wait and see on that ...

Meanwhile, let's toss out some tips-of-the-cap to Barry Crimmins, Michael Stickings, Sean Collins, and a boatload of others, who have assisted, tagged, linked, promoted, pushed, or otherwise helped me along the way.

And, to our subscribers, and readers, of The Garlic ...

MUCHO THANKS!

Oh God ... He's Back!!!

To those intrepid ones who went across the seas to be the eyes and ears of America ....To those forthright ones who saw the early clouds of war while many of us at home were seeing rainbows ....To those clear-headed ones who now stand like recording angels among the dead and dying ... To the Foreign Correspondents - this motion picture is dedicated ....

Foreign Correspondent-- (Movie Clip) Main Credits

Johnny Jones, aka Huntley Haverstock, must be rolling in his grave.

Word comes today, that the world's most famous non-working-plumber, aka, the Stumblin' Bumblin' John McKKKain campaign's mascot, Joe The Plumber, is going over to cover the conflict in Gaza, for PajamasMedia's, PajamasTV, as a journalist.

Jesus, who over at this "Pajamas Are Us" outlet thought up this earth-shattering idea?

To stay in JTP mode, was it Izzy, the Idea Idiot? ...

Are the Flying Monkeys so stressed out, that, with the worldwide coverage of Israel's bombardment of Gaza isn't capturing the essence of the story, they have to scrape the bottom-of-the-barrel and pull out this fame-seeking fool?

Couldn't they get The Wasilla Whiz Kid, Sarah Palin, to, I don't know, stand on a chair, and look beyond Russia, to see if she could focus in on Gaza and phone in some reports?

Jeff Gannon's gotta be pretty pissed off.

He's just as good as the next fake journalist at lobbing softballs.

And, softballs is what it will be ...

From Think Progress;
"I get to go over there and let their "Average Joes" share their story, what they think, how they feel -- especially with, you know, world opinion. Maybe get a real story out there."
There you go ...Professionals, with long careers, covering numerous wars and conflicts, they aren't able to get the "real story".

With the long, twisted history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, covering decades, it comes down to this alleged plumber from Ohio to jaunt over there and dig out the "real story".

And how is he going to do it?

From Steve Benen;
Asked if he's concerned about his personal safety, he added, "Being a Christian, I'm pretty well protected by God."
That's it, throw one out to the Jesus crowd ...

No doubt, the Flying Monkeys will be riveted.

And just who is Huntley Haverstock?

None other than the protagonist/hero (portrayed by the great Joel McCrea) of one of Alfred Hitchcock's best film's, 'Foreign Correspondent'.

Here's the trailer for 'Foreign Correspondent'

Here's a themed clip, "Hats"

And this, classic Hitchcock!

Yet Another Reason We Called Him 'Stumblin' and Bumblin'

Dead Campaign Express pulled off another one.

While there are efforts being made to expunge the gutter campaign the debunked Maverick ran, the one consistency was that, if something could be screwed up, they certainly screwed it up.

This seemed harmless, enough, from the WaPo's 'The Sleuth', Mary Ann Akers;

Fire Sale on All McCain-Palin Campaign Equipment

That's right, the failed McCain-Palin campaign is having a fire sale this week on leftover equipment. Everything is on sale at reduced prices. An email sent over the weekend to all campaign staff, which was subsequently forwarded to the Sleuth, reads:

"Starting Monday December 8, 2008 the prices will be slashed to 36% of the original price for furniture, office supplies, blackberries, and many campaign computers. This is a great opportunity to own a piece of history, finish your Christmas shopping, or simply replace your old laptop."

Don't have any cash on you? No worries. An attached price sheet says, "We accept cash, checks, and credit cards."
Okay ... Dump some of the stuff, pick-up a few bucks, maybe, some folks could have gotten a good deal.

So, how did it go for the Stumblin' Fly Boy?

Campaign Blackberry Filled With McCain-Palin Info Sold To Reporter For $20
MyFoxDC.com: When we charged them up in the newsroom, we found one of the $20 Blackberry phones contained more than 50 phone numbers for people connected with the McCain-Palin campaign, as well as hundreds of emails from early September until a few days after election night.

We traced the Blackberry back to a staffer who worked for “Citizens for McCain,” a group of democrats who threw their support behind the Republican nominee. The emails contain an insider’s look at how grassroots operations work, full of scheduling questions and rallying cries for support.

But most of the numbers were private cell phones for campaign leaders, politicians, lobbyists and journalists.

We called some of the numbers.

“Somebody made a mistake,” one owner told us. “People’s numbers and addresses were supposed to be erased.”

“They should have wiped that stuff out,” another said. But he added, “Given the way the campaign was run, this is not a surprise.”

We called the McCain-Palin campaign, who says, “it was an unfortunate staff error and procedures are being put in place to ensure all information is secure.”

As Steve Benen noted, TECHNOLOGY WAS NEVER THEIR STRONG POINT...

Even if he didn't blow it on the economy, or do the blindfolded "Pin-The-Tail-On-My-VP-Choice" of The Wasilla Whiz Kid, it still would be hard to imagine that he would ever get elected President.

Not for us, but for him;

Help Me Mr. Wizard!

So Flute

Well, after submitting myself to a proverbial "My Sister/My Daughter" today, mapping out a handful of posts, I decided to file them, and take the day off, catching up on some much-need rest.

Not to leave you totally dry, we will point to an excellent Frank Rich today, and leave you with a snapping musical interlude.

Rich, in his NYT column, gave a big "Fuck You" to the Right Wing Freak Show, all the Flying Monkeys, the dwarfs, finks, phonies and frauds, and the Bush Grindhouse, heralding the election of Barack Obama as the firing of the starters' pistol to closing the curtain on Turd Blossom-Faux News-echoed politics.

It Still Felt Good the Morning After

Dawn also brought the realization that we were at last emerging from an abusive relationship with our country’s 21st-century leaders. The festive scenes of liberation that Dick Cheney had once imagined for Iraq were finally taking place — in cities all over America.

So let’s be blunt. Almost every assumption about America that was taken as a given by our political culture on Tuesday morning was proved wrong by Tuesday night.
And he gave Stumblin' Bumblin' John McKKKain, and the Dead Campaign Express and pretty good slapdown;
The same commentators who dismissed every conceivable American demographic as racist, lazy or both got Sarah Palin wrong too. When she made her debut in St. Paul, the punditocracy was nearly uniform in declaring her selection a brilliant coup. There hadn’t been so much instant over-the-top praise by the press for a cynical political stunt since President Bush “landed” a jet on the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln in that short-lived triumph “Mission Accomplished.”
Go read "It Still Felt Good the Morning After", it's a good one.

Now, until tomorrow, the musical interlude ...

SO FLUTE - ST. GERMAIN

Something's Coming

Well, the tension is all set now.

In, hopefully, less then 24-hours, we'll know who our next President is going to be.

God, I hope it's less than 24-hours, and that we don't get into a retro 2000 scene, that Obama, right out of the gate, as soon as possible, after the first polls close, starts cleaning the clock of the Dead Campaign Express.

Especially after today.

Mommy Moose saved some her best for the last day on the stump, spraying her lies and smears most viciously.

The Republicans, led by their California branch, worked their slime as well, filing a charge with the FEC, to rap Obama for using his Campaign plane to visit his ailing grandmother, who today, it was announced, passed away.

What do they call this, Desperate Compassion?

If McKKKain had any class, he'd either publically state for the charge to be withdrawn, or that he would have his wife pay whatever the cost was for the trip

So, as you gird your loins for the barrage of talking heads tomorrow, passing off anxiety attacks for commentary, repeating the same stale hash they have been for the past number of weeks and months, the donut eaters interpreting a Autumn afternoon breeze as some tell-tale sign that it will be a good night for the Stumblin' Fly Boy, let us hope that we don't have the greatest freak of all-time, that all the polls are wrong, and Obama, as well as the down-ticket contenders, crushes the GOP into oblivion.

Here's a little something to work off that tension with.

Sing along, sing loudly!

West Side Story-Something's Coming

Retro McKKKain: Town Hall Whining

If there were only one thing to be happy for, when this presidential campaign ends tomorrow, it will be (hopefully) the end of having to listen to Stumblin' Bumblin' John McKKKain whine, lie and obfuscate about how he had to run a Rovian, gutter-based, smearing, sliming campaign, because Barack Obama would not agree to do his proposed 10 Town Halls.

He even worked it into the script, of his pathetic SNL appearance this past weekend (or, maybe, he was just employing the Stanislavsky Method, of acting like a loser).

Yeah, right ...

Much like Mommy Moose's bridge, this crying of his should go down as "The Town Halls To Nowhere".

And he has pissed-and-moaned about it so much, he finally go that molded piece of cheese, often referred to as "The Dean" of political reporting, to buy into it.

David Broder, in his WaPO column yesterday, delivered the proverbial donuts;

In what history may record as his singular achievement -- dealing with the classic American dilemma of race -- he had the largely unappreciated help of his opponent, John McCain, who simply ruled out covert racial appeals used by politicians of both parties in the past. But Obama himself demonstrated repeatedly how to bridge the racial divides that still remain, by emphasizing his calm good judgment and respect for others. As a symbol of that national maturity, he carries a powerful, positive message to the world.

Obama is not, any more than other politicians, a paragon. He reneged on his promise to use public funds for his general election campaign, driving a stake into the heart of the post-Watergate effort to reform the campaign finance system. He rejected McCain's invitation to hold joint town hall meetings -- opening the door to the kind of tawdry exchange of charges that we have seen. In both instances, he put his personal goals ahead of the public good -- a worrisome precedent.
Get that ... "Opening the door to the kind of tawdry exchange of charges".

He even gives the Stumblin' Fly Boy a pass, as "who ruled out covert racial appeals ... "

Perhaps that's true.

It's just that the Dead Campaign Express used a few truckloads of covert other smears and lies, leaving the racial BS to those who attended their rallies, and the robocalls.

Steve Benen also called Broder on it;
But this doesn't make sense. If McCain wanted to be an honorable candidate, he could be an honorable candidate, whether his opponent is a Senate colleague or a total stranger. Building a rapport is not a prerequisite for honest campaigning -- character, integrity, and respect for the political process are prerequisites for honest campaigning.

Whether there are three debates or 300 is irrelevant. It's not like McCain and Steve Schmidt got together one day and said, "Well, I wasn't going to spend the fall lying pathologically and smearing Obama, but since there are only going to be three debates, we might as well."

The Retro Part, we hit on, back in September;

He's Still Harping About The 10 Town Halls!

MY FRIENDS: THE MUSICAL

Here's a little post-Halloween treat for you.

It comes from the folks at Humanitainment;

A new world is comin' people... and it's gonna need a new kind of entertainment.

It's called Humanitainment... and here's how we make it:

We start with the goal of raising consciousness, then we sprinkle in some wit, creativity and a healthy dose of in-your-face attitude. Stir it all together... bake... and voila!

We're gonna blow the doors off the stigma that socially-relevant content can't be cool--

And yes... we're aware that stigmas don't have doors. We're idealistic, not crazy!
Check it out - It pretty funny, and very well done (That is, if you can stand to hear Stumblin' Bumblin' John McKKKain utter his tattered, worn-out, over-used, signature calling, yet, again).

McKKKain-Palin, In Reverse

I think it's supposed to be, in the final days of campaign, that you "get out the vote", not, as it appears the Dead Campaign Express is employing, "get the voter the hell out of here".

Two incidents this week, that shows they just don't get it.

Pre-emptive ejection: Audience members removed at McCain rally in Cedar Falls

Audience members escorted out of Sen. John McCain’s, R-Ariz., campaign event in Cedar Falls questioned why they were asked to leave Sunday’s rally even though they were not protesting.

Lara Elborno, a student at the University of Iowa, said she was approached by a police officer and a McCain staffer and was told she had to leave or she would be arrested for trespassing.

“It was a very confusing, very frustrating situation,” Elborno said. “I said that I had a right to be there, I wasn’t doing anything disruptive — I was sitting, waiting for the rally to start.”

She said McCain staffers wouldn’t tell her why she was being asked to leave and when she got outside, she saw “a group of about 20 people” who had all been asked to leave.

Despite repeated attempts, McCain’s campaign could not be reached for comment.
Kicking people out of your own rally?

I'm not sure that's in too many campaign playbooks.

But, those were just regular people, Joe-and-Josephine Six-Packs.

The Dead Campaign Express also had bigger fish to fry.

McCain-Palin Campaign Snubs Penn State Prez; Unwelcome at Palin Campus Event Because He's a "Big Democrat"

A McCain-Palin campaign official snubbed the president of Penn State University who inquired about attending a campus speech Tuesday by Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, university officials told ABCNews.com.

"I welcome eminent visitors to our campus everyday, including lots of Republicans, but [the McCain-Palin campaign] didn't want me to greet her or even attend the event," said Spanier.

Some might say that makes it an odd time to snub the president of the state's largest university. The school enrolls 40,000 students and counts a quarter-million alumni living in Pennsylvania alone.

Spanier says he does not appear on stage or introduce candidates but is always eager "to officially welcome visitors to our campus."

"At a time when both campaigns are appealing to independents and people of the other party in our state, it seems like a strange decision," Spanier said.
I would suspect, that in leaving, the Palin Mob stomped and kicked the Nittany Lion mascot, as, probably, it is also a "Big Democrat".

Strange decision?

A strange decision could be viewed as a good day for Stumblin' Bumblin' John McCain.

His choice of Mommy Moose for VP, and his wrapping his arms around Joe The Dumber, have been disastrous decisions for the Stumblin' Fly Boy.

And just think, The Wasilla Whiz Kid could have added another name to her roll call, like "Tito the Builder" and "Nancy the Nurse", she could have given a shout out to "Graham, the College President".

What's pissing off a potential quarter-million voters?

A bit more than a "strange decision", no?

Ya'Bet'cha!

The Big Day ...

Trick or Treat?

We could make jokes about Stumblin' Bumblin' John McKKKain, and his sidekick, The Wasilla Whiz Kid, going out today, dressed as a couple of mavericks, however, I doubt very many would drop candy in their bags, not finding the pair credible, the costumes really low rent and cheesy, yet, we will lay low on that.

Rather, instead of any tricks, we'll give you a treat.

Some say, the legendary drummer, Philly Joe Jones was a huge fan of Béla Lugosi, and then there is this account as well;

If that weren't enough, he was, in addition, an entertainer with unusual presence and great ability as a mimic and comedian. I commend to your attention his now famous Bela Lugosi/Count Dracula imitation (Blues for Dracula - Philly Joe Jones Riverside, OJCCD-230-2). He did it so accurately and with flair that he might well have intimidated comedian-commentator Lenny Bruce, whose Lugosi impressions inspired the multifaceted drummer to this a part of his act.
In any case, our treat for you today is (drumroll, please);

Save This Snapshot!

Koo-koo-ka-choo, John, the Maverick Man
Palin loves you more than you will know
God bless you, please, John, the Maverick Man.
Heaven holds a place for those who bomb away,
Hey, hey, hey

Where have you gone, Joe the faux Plumber,
Our Campaign turns it's lonely eyes to you.
What's that you say, John, the Maverick Man.
Revoltin' Joe has left and gone away,
Yea, Yea, Yea,
Yea, Yea, Yea!

Yes, save this, mark this down, for it encompasses, almost, the perfect snapshot, the finger-on-the-button, a dead-ringer in horseshoes, the milieu, imprint, definition of the Stumblin' Bumblin' John McKKKain campaign.

Joe The Plumber Stands Up John McCain?

Now, either the staff told the Stumblin' Bumblin' Fly Boy that Joe "Living-Way-Outside-His-YouTube-Moment" the Plumber wasn't in attendance, and he "forgot", or, the Rove Rats never bothered to make sure the fawned-over Flying Monkey was front-and-center, to be foisted on the bused-in audience of school children (this is the second time he's abused students, forcing them to sit through one of his campaign events, perhaps, in a vein attempt to sprinkle and plant new "My Friends" seeds; Or, in the case today, to avoid the embarrassment of not having a quorum of an audience) .

Actually, it may be a combination of both.

McCain forgets that Joe the Plumber isn’t at his rally: ‘Where is Joe?’

Update - McCain staffers tell ABC News that it was "a simple mix up" and Joe "will join the campaign at a Thursday evening event."

Update - Dana Bash updates:

McCain aides called it a “miscommunication,” but once I got on the bus I called Wurzelbacher myself and asked him what really happened. He told me that he had hoped to come to the morning rally, but that no one from McCain’s campaign ever called him back to confirm, Bigger ooops.
Well, that kind of diamond-drilling precision sure ought'a rope in more votes.

No doubt you've seen or heard all the news on this bald buffoon, from his "mulling over" running for Congress, to the latest wet dream of a recording contract (Apparently, Nashville has plans to start stamping out new Lee Greenwoods, rivaling the schedule of Chinese toy factories), to his foot-in-mouth policy discussion the other day, that even the Faux News guys couldn't swallow.

I'm beginning to believe that the only reason the debunked Maverick clings to this ignorant clump of ridiculousness, is to bookend him with his sterling VP choice, Mommy Moose.

Peas-in-a-pod, as it were ...

Boy, if they really wanted to make heads explode, sit The Wasilla Whiz Kid, and Joe the Dumber, down, together, for a Katie Couric interview.

They'd be scrapping up brain matter, from "sea, to shining sea".

And There Was Also This

It might serve the voting public better, if Stumblin' Bumblin' Johnnie just finished off the campaign wearing clown shoes.

Remember a short time ago, when the Dead Campaign Express was regaling themselves with calling Obama a "celebrity", complete with the "Paris Hilton" video.

I mean, they just couldn't get enough of that, entertaining themselves, so smug that they were pinning something on Obama that would surely sink his campaign.

It was all kittens-with-a-ball-of-string, those heady, "celebrity" days.

Well, later in the day, Joe the Dumber did show up.

Joe the Plumber shows at McCain rally

"By the way…shouldn’t we hear from our celebrity Joe, just a second, Joe Wurzelbacher?”

"All right guys, I didn't prepare anything," Wurzelbacher said. "The only thing I've been saying is just get out and get informed. I mean really know what you're talking about when you're talking about it. Don't take everyone's opinions. I came to my own opinions by research. Get involved in the government. That way we can hold our politicians accountable and take back our government.”
"Our celebrity Joe"

Someone needs to check, were these people the model, the inspiration, for the film "Idiocracy"?

Must be the "electrolytes".

"Hey, Wait A Minute ... We're Not Your Friends!"

Leave it to the Dead Campaign Express, to generate more of those "final-week-of-the-campaign" headlines, just about all other campaigns would go out of their way to have spikes rammed into their eyes, rather than be humiliated as such.

Dozens Of Call Center Workers Walk Off Job In Protest Rather Than Read McCain Script Attacking Obama

Some three dozen workers at a telemarketing call center in Indiana walked off the job rather than read an incendiary McCain campaign script attacking Barack Obama, according to two workers at the center and one of their parents.

Nina Williams, a stay-at-home mom in Lake County, Indiana, tells us that her daughter recently called her from her job at the center, upset that she had been asked to read a script attacking Obama for being "dangerously weak on crime," "coddling criminals," and for voting against "protecting children from danger."

This worker, too, confirmed sacrificing pay to walk out, saying her supervisor told her: "If you don't wanna phone it you can just go home for the day."

The script coincided with this robo-slime call running in other states, but because robocalling is illegal in Indiana it was being read by call center workers.

Is the Stumblin' Bumblin' Fly Boy rewriting the GOP Playbook?

Already behind in the polls, with just about every pollster that steps on television, you can see the clothes pins through their shirts, attached to their nipples, to keep them from saying the word "landslide", and that the race is over, he wants to add to the long odds, offending people, forcing them to walk off their jobs, because they think he, and the campaign, is repugnant.

File that brilliant piece of strategy away, for 2012.

Steve Benen offers some potential hope;
Keep in mind, robocalls are illegal in Indiana, forcing the McCain campaign to rely on these call centers to spread their smears. If more states passed similar laws, maybe we'd have more call-center-worker rebellions? And ultimately fewer loathsome Republican attacks over the phone?

Now that would be some change to believe in.

As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls

No the title is not some late-breaking poll news, it's the title of a tune and album of the great Pat Metheny, and just a metaphor for a round-up of the sinking Dead Campaign Express.

It be getting ugly over there.

In-fighting, back-stabbing, every-man-for-themselves-type vibe going on, with short tempers, and more conspiracies than who shot J.R., growing by the day.

There was one, juicy spat the other day, involving McKKKain lobbyist/aide, Randy Scheunemann, that Georgia-lovin', alleged foreign policy expert (the one who trained Mommy Moose for her VP debate), and Atlantic writer, Marc Ambinder.

After Ambinder posted "11 Days Out, And The Whispering Begins", on the "circular firing squad" that has been forming, in the McKKKain Camp, as well as in GOP circles, and, in particular, the whispers about The Wasilla Whiz Kid;

This faction has come to believe that Palin, perhaps unwittingly subconsciously or otherwise, has begun to play Sen. McCain off of the base, consistently and deliberately departed from the campaign's message of the day in ways that damage McCain. ("palling around with terrorists" was a line that escaped HQ's vetting... Palin's criticism of the campaign for pulling out of Michigan was greeted by anger internally... Palin's expressed opinion that Rev. Wright is a legitimate issue -- which subtly knocks McCain for not raising it -- was perceived as an attempt to preemptively blame McCain's wobbliness for his loss, which would theoretically enhance Palin's standing with the base.) The complaints extend all the back to Palin's vice presidential vetting. Major disclosures, issue positions and associations did not come up, and the campaign was so overwhelmed with new information early on, it largely abandoned an effort to defend them individually. This is the claim, anyway. For the record, senior adviser Mark Salter, accurately identified everywhere as the aide who is closest to McCain, calls this scenario "bullshit."
Well, can't be pulling the curtain back this early, to display the freakshow that the McKKKain Campaign is becoming.

So, Mr. Georgia-Lovin' Scheunemann fired off an email to Ambinder;
In response to this morning's post about an anti-Palin faction developing with the McCain campaign and among Republicans, Randy Scheunemann, McCain's chief foreign policy adviser, e-mails:

Just read your post. This is on the record. This is cleared by HQ. It is a fact that Barack Obama was palling around with terrorists. It was a fact before Governor Palin said it in a fully vetted speech and it is fact today. It is bullshit to claim or write anything else.
There, take that!

Nice, in one respect, seeing the top aides take responsibility for the lies and smears.

But, temper, temper, there, Randy Boy ...

Much of this started, two-days earlier, with the posting of a preview of an NYT Magazine article, "The Making (and Remaking) of McCain", which will run tomorrow (Sunday).

Let's just say it ain't a pretty picture, with the Rove Rat, Steve Schmidt, likely the cataylist for the sale of vodoo dolls and pins by the McKKKain donut eaters.

And it also peels back another juicy morsel, about the non-vetting of Ms. Troopergate.

From John Cole, in his "Anatomy of a Train Wreck";

And by the way- Sarah Palin was not vetted one tiny bit. They had no clue what they were getting into, and someone could make a hell of a blog post by going back and chronicling the right-wing noise machine and blogger pushback in which they asserted she was thoroughly vetted, because this piece just blows that BS out of the water.
So, as we move into today, what headlines are we greeted with?

Palin allies report rising campaign tension

Even as John McCain and Sarah Palin scramble to close the gap in the final days of the 2008 election, stirrings of a Palin insurgency are complicating the campaign's already-tense internal dynamics.

Four Republicans close to Palin said she has decided increasingly to disregard the advice of the former Bush aides tasked to handle her, creating occasionally tense situations as she travels the country with them. Those Palin supporters, inside the campaign and out, said Palin blames her handlers for a botched rollout and a tarnished public image -- even as others in McCain's camp blame the pick of the relatively inexperienced Alaska governor, and her public performance, for McCain's decline.

"She's lost confidence in most of the people on the plane," said a senior Republican who speaks to Palin, referring to her campaign jet. He said Palin had begun to "go rogue" in some of her public pronouncements and decisions.

"I think she'd like to go more rogue," he said.

Josh Marshall, enthusiastically, backs that call, shouting out "Go More Rogue".

From Steve Benen;
According to the piece in the Politico, Palin's people blame handlers for not letting her be herself. McCain's people blame Palin for being unprepared and unable to answer questions coherently. Palin's people don't want the governor to get the blame if the ticket loses, and McCain's people resent the lack of loyalty and discipline.
We'll have a calvacade of links below that you can pour through.

Meantime, pay attention to what will be the "greatest show on earth", the final week of a presidential campaign, and, from the Dead Campaign Express, more finger-pointing then you'll ever see at a Hand Model convention
