Well, our revival of The Garlic's Weekly Poll was met with news that, well, let's just say it wasn't a rounding endorsement for taking a seat on Obama's new Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry;
Auto team drives imports ...Fed task force has few new U.S. carsThe vehicles owned by the Obama administration's auto team could reflect one reason why Detroit's Big Three automakers are in trouble: The list includes few new American cars.
And the two big cheeses - Secretary of the Treasury Timothy F. Geithner and White House National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers?
Among the eight members named Friday to the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry and the 10 senior policy aides who will assist them in their work, two own American models. Add the Treasury Department's special adviser to the task force and the total jumps to three. The co-chairs of the task force -- Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and White House National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers -- both own foreign automobiles.
Hmmmm ... Kind of like finding out that the chef for your restaurant, eats down the street.
Geithner owns a 2008 Acura TSX, registered in New York. He once owned a 1999 Honda Accord and a 2002 Acura MDX, according to public records.
Geithner is the president's designee for purposes of enforcing loan agreements with GM and Chrysler and must approve or reject any proposed transactions by either company that would cost $100 million or more.
His maternal grandfather, Charles Moore, was a vice president at Ford Motor Co. from 1952-63, according to Peter Geithner, the secretary's father. But Geithner wasn't very interested in cars growing up -- in part because he graduated from high school in Asia, his father said.
Summers owns a 1995 Mazda Protege that's registered in Massachusetts. He previously owned a 1996 Ford Taurus GL.
Something tells me that a whole bunch of people in the Obama Administration will be visiting their local car dealerships - those selling American models - in the near future.
However, there is a bright side to this.
The persons that our Garlic readers voted to be added to the Obama Car Team, are probably the best possible salesman for just this type of problem.
And, they certainly will be able to part quality advice, as to repairs and upkeep.

Garlic Poll Results - 'Sir, Will That Be A One-Way Ticket To The Hague?"
Our long national nightmare has come to an end.
Well, yes, The Commander Guy, but we refer to we finally got around to closing down this poll.
We put it up last Spring, for the 5th Anniversary of the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq, and a combination of getting a good response to it, wanting to leave it running while HE was still, even though it was a court-appointed deal, holding the office, and, the ever-present pressing duties on the homefront.
And, The Garlic's Poll isn't off-the-mark.
Just recently, over 40% of Americans polled support bringing Bush, and the rest of the cronies from The Bush Grindhouse, to justice.
Ahhh, but the new President waffles.
Glenn Greenwald pointed out the downside of not pursuing these charges, hightlighting a guy that is going to go hoarse, jumping up-and-down, all but setting his hair on fire, pointing out the painfully obvious, Jonathan Turley;Jonathan Turley: These are war crimes. These are special categories. . . . The downside to all the [inauguration] pageantry -- and it is certainly well-deserved -- is that it's important for people who lift their hand in front of that building to understand the difference between the man and the mandate.
So, let’s get it on!
And the mandate here, as far as I understood it, is that we were going to have a true change, where people would be held accountable. And all this talk about civility makes it sound like it's just simply uncivil to investigate people for war crimes. . . .
All they have to do is say: "we're going to allow the law to be enforced." That's not a very difficult thing to say. But it's going to be inconvenient. But principles are always inconvenient. It's never a good time for principle. . . .
What I think the new Barack Obama -- President Obama -- is going to find it very hard to do is go around the world and say: "we're now again a nation of laws," if the first act he commits as President is to walk away from confirmed war crimes.
Rachel Maddow: If the administration has confirmed that they tortured people -- and they have, they have used the "t" word; they have described what they have done, which is recognized as torture, it is something for which we have prosecuted people -- are we literally looking at the possibility where administration officials from this administration cannot travel abroad to the other 145 countries that have signed the torture treaties because they might get arrested?
Jonathan Turley: Most certainly. The status of George Bush is not that different from Augusto Pinochet. They've both been accused of running a torture program. Outside of this country, there is not this ambiguity about what to do about a war crime. There are four treaties that make this an international violation. So if you go abroad, and try to travel, most people abroad are going to view you not as "former President George Bush" -- they're going to view you as a current war criminal.
Rachel Maddow: And they're going to view us as an outlaw regime for not arresting him on our own soil.
Jonathan Turley: I think so, unfortunately. A lot is at stake.
Let's just repeat two sentences. Turley: "President Obama is going to find it very hard to go around the world and say: 'we're now again a nation of laws,' if the first act he commits as President is to walk away from a confirmed war crime." Maddow: "And [people around the world] are going to view us as an outlaw regime for not arresting him on our own soil."
Especially, since no one picked up The Garlic's call for a Citizen's Arrest.
Slap on the cuffs, do the perp walk, and book'em with a one-way ticket to The Hague!
Our Garlic Poll voters concur ...

Hillary's New Campaign Slogan: Keep Hopelessness Alive! ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
Just in time for the long run in Pennsylvania - "Keep Hopelessness Alive!"
Those in the Keystone State will be the first to embrace this new Hillary Clinton campaign strategy ... Vote for Hillary and "Keep Hopelessness Alive!" ... If you want a bleak future, vote for Hillary and "Keep Hopelessness Alive!"
How can she miss with that?
Very, very spirited voting, in the latest Garlic Weekly Poll.
With Hillary Clinton stumbling and bumbling her way through the campaign, Barry Crimmins chipped in to offer some sound suggestions of campaign slogans, for Hillary to soldier on with.
I mean, it was easy for her to get distracted, having to worry about what to load up in that kitchen sink she was going to toss at Barack Obama.
She had to come up with that 3AM Ad (and screwed that up), and then had to decided when to give the green light to Geraldine Ferraro, so the former Vice Presidential candidate could unleash her racism.
It just goes that her own campaign might fall behind a little bit, so Barry Crimmins, and all of our Garlic poll voters, gave of themselves to take that burden off of her.
The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll March 4 - March 15 2008
With Hillary Clinton continuing on, she should change her campaign slogan (H/T Barry Crimmins) to ...

She Comes With A Tinfoil Hat, But That's Not So Bad, Is It Mitt? ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
It's gotta be, kind of, tough for Make-Up Mitt this evening.
Here's Johnny Boy McCain wrapping up the Republican nomination this evening (at least, as of the time of this writing, that's what's being projected).
Ain't that a kick-in-the-pants ...
It had to be so tantalizing ... The breaking of a "scandal" ... Attractive female lobbyist ... Favors being done ... Letter writing...
Maybe, he gathered the boys around, and they set up a phone bank in their Belmont basement ... Maybe even had little contests, of who could come up with the most outrageous rumor they could phone to the media ... Or, who could disguise their voice the best ... Who could do the funniest accent when dishing the dirt on McCain ...
And, our Garlic Poll Voters felt that, for such hard work, the new, unsuspended campaign would have a Romney Girl - the bubbling Oscar winner Marion Cotillard.
Yeah, she might have a few tinfoil hats that she may wear on the campaign trail, but believing landing on the moon was a hoax, and the Sept. 11th attack on the WTC has more to do with saving on remolding, than it being a terror attack, isn't that far off the beaten path of that Mormon Faith that doesn't get brought up very often, certainly not included in your "I Am Spartacus" speech, early on the campaign
Heck, Mitt, with Cotillard on your side, you could have probably pulled a good chunk of the Ron Paul base.
The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll February 25 - March 4, 2008

Maybe Marvel Comics Can Put Out A Special Edition ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
Oh, think of the possibilities ...
The Fantastic Four, descending upon Denver, for the Democrats convention, out and determined to keep the process fair and just.
Then, suddenly, they appear ... The school-bus-yellow-pant-suited Superdelegates ...
Will Sue Storm throw up a force field to hold them at bay?
Does Johnny Storm merely point a flaming finger at them, incinerating the Superdelegates on the spot?
Ben Grimm, will he do his "Thing", thing and crush them?
Maybe, carnage will be avoided, with Reed Richards, as Mister Fantastic (well, Mister Fantastic #2, if Barack Obama happens to be around) stretches out his neck, supervising the Superdelegates, checking all their ballots, snooping on their conversations, and, to the chagrin of Human Torch, and Thing, reasons with the Superdelegates to do the right thing ...
Hmmm ... Maybe Marvel Comics can put out a Special Edition ...
The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll February 17 - February 25, 2008

Where, Oh Where, Can Those Missing White House Emails Be ... Oh, Where, Oh Where Can They Be ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
There are so many of them, and Keith Olbermann is tracking them, in his nightly segment "Bushed", that it's hard to put a quantitative amount of disgust on the ever looming Bush Grindhouse scandals.
Seemingly, just as one begins to fade into the background - BAM! - a whole new fresh one erupts on the scene ...
Take the Missing White House Emails.
The Bush Grindhouse has thumbed their noses at the Presidential Records Act, running official USA business on email accounts belonging to the RNC, not preserving them, or even having a policy to preserve (these last two come with a "wink, wink").
And it's just a coincidence that a major batch of missing White House emails are from the period of time when they were amping up the lies about going to war, and preparing to expose covert CIA Agent Valeria Plame.
And, they have the gall to say that none are missing!
Using the logic, that since they can't be located, you can't really say any are missing - Check out the transcript, with White House Assistant Mouthpiece Tony Fratto babbling on about it.
Well, our Garlic Poll voters have a pretty good idea where they may be.
Being the our Vice President actually went to court, to protect the secrecy of his Energy Task Force meetings, the vote was they got reclassified and stuck in there.
With the way these guys operate, that certainly wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities.

Oh... people will come Hillary ... People will most definitely come ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
Well, if it plays out, as our Garlic Poll voters have stated, it's no big surprise that Bill Clinton is, and will be, so involved in Hillary's campaign ... He's ( or Terrell Owens) going to be needed to either translate Hillary's teary speeches, or he'll have to step up and take over the talking.
It must have been a very difficult, and frustrating time for Hillary Clinton.
Not finding her own voice until January 2008, after all those years as First Lady, in the White House ... Running her campaigns for U.S. Senator ... It, kind of, makes you think about what she could have accomplished, earlier in her career, if only she had her own voice back then.
Hmmm ... Was it the crisp, cold New Hampshire air that brought it out? ... Could be a boon to the state, a, sort of "Field of Voices" kind-of-thing ... "If you build it, they will talk" ... People will come from all over, driving for miles and miles, just for the opportunity to breath in that Granite State air and find their own voices ... "Hillary, people will come Hillary. They'll come to New Hampshire for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for their own voices. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's only $20 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and their own voices they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers; sit in winter coats on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the voting lines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the election and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Hillary. The one constant through all the years, Hillary, has been elections. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But elections has marked the time. This field, this election: it's a part of our past, Hillary. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Hillary. People will most definitely come.

One Legacy To Go ... Will That Be Cash or Credit, Mr. President? ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
This is getting pretty embarrassing.
He's like the guy walking around with toilet paper stuck to his shoe ... Or maybe his fly is down ... Or the last to know that his wife is cheating on him ...
And out Garlic Poll voters see it, especially after this weeks' Iranian kerfuffle, where the Bush Grindhouse, and the U.S. Navy, apparently, can't tell the difference between a Sea or Filipino Monkey.
We did a post on this last week and, The Commander Guy is traipsing around the Middle East like he's a rock star, fully wrapped up in his bubble, babbling on, dishing out his Freedom speeches ...
And the hosts in the various countries lay it all out, give him the star treatment, but more-so, in-the-know, treating him like the uncle or grandfather who is traveling on the road to Dementia ...
After all, the McClatchy Newspapers got the nectar on it, almost by accident;"The official Arab view of Bush was summed up inadvertently by a diplomat from a major Arab state, who indicated disbelief that the president will use the trip to renew his drive for Middle East democracy.

Oh, it would have been so rich to watch ...
Mr. Viceroy ... The Ambassador Extraordinaire, L. Paul Bremer, taking the controls, yet again ... Would he have followed the same script, same plans, and thoroughly tear apart Pakistan, as he did in Iraq? ...
We'll never know (well, we shouldn't say that just yet), because the Bush Grindhouse hasn't done very much as it's template for democracy - Pakistan - is currently in meltdown.
Some very light lip service about "get your shit together" and no slowdown, apparently, on stuffing Musharraf's pockets with money.
But, we digress,
The voters of The Garlic's Weekly Poll showed some darn, heart-tugging patriotism this past week, showing they want to pitch in and contribute.
They voted for giving the Foreign Diplomats of our State Department a glass-half-full, optimistic choice for their service.
Pretty darn nice of them, don't you think?

"According To Our Records" ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
It still remains to be played out, just what will the telecommunication companies that played along with the Bush Grindhouse gets after all this hubbub.
And, boy, would I like to see Mukasey dance around if illegal wiretapping is illegal... The producers of Dancing with The Stars will be on the red-eye to Washington, to sign him up ...
And there's something inherently unfair in all of this.
I mean, it takes the phone company months and months to take bogus charges off your bill, and yet, when the Bush Regime comes a'knocking, with one of their David Addington-John Yoo-penned "Get Out of Jail Free" cards, they can spy on millions of their customers, like that ... Lickity-split, with the snap-of-a-finger, on the drop of a dime (no pun intended).
So, our Garlic Poll voters, last week, decided they should get a most vicious, infuriating punishment ...
But me thinks this isn't merely enough ...
Time will tell, and, whatever you do, don't complain if they get off scot-free, on the telephone or in an email ... If you do, for heaven's sake, use code, because the Bush Grindhouse will know about your complaint before your intended recipient does ...

General, Drop Your Draws, The Country Wants To Thank You ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
Well, since the Congress got down on their knees, during the PetraeusReportPalooza, it wouldn't be out-of-the-question for the Bush Grindhouse to have the expectation for the country to give the Golden Boy a good hummer.
But, alas, the news has advanced far past our latest Garlic Weekly Poll.
AQI is nearly as passe as bell-bottom pants... They're as out as Joe Torre... Gone, Arriverderchi, Addios ...
It's in with the new and that means its all Iran, all the time... Iran is fomenting the violence in Iraq now... Iran is providing the bombs ... Iran is providing the training... And, if you haven't been paying attention, Iran has wrestled that much-heralded impending mushroom cloud out of the cold, dead hands of Saddam Hussein and are proudly waving it in Tehran.
Don't worry, even if the Faux News Networks is running a bit behind in their fear-mongering, it won't take them long to catch up ... I mean, there's less than 60-days for them to put some terror into your holidays (and an Iranian terrorist under every tree) ... I'm sure they're working on it ...

Faster Than A Speeding, Lead Bullet ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
We're back, with The Garlic's Weekly Poll!
What started out, in the Dog Days of Summer, of taking a week, or two, respite, turned into ... Well ... We got kind of lazy and carried away with the new-found freedom ...
At least we left a poll up that had legs ... Is there anything that isn't being recalled today?
Lead hasn't been in the news this much since Murder Incorporated was in business ... Or, the old George Reeves "Adventures of Superman" show aired, and it was one of the many episodes of Superman being saved by a house built of lead, a lead shield ... Something prominent that was made of lead that Lois or Jimmy would happen to come up with.
Now, you have to think, if Superman was real, how would he, after all, believing in that "Truth, Justice and the American Way" thing, deal with the Bush Grindhouse?

Boy, I'll Bet David Vitters Wished He Could Have Invoked Executive Privilege ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
It certainly isn't going to help Senator David Vitters (R-LA) that his Commander Guy may think, as our Garlic Poll Voters suggest, that "Executive Privilege" is the name of the escort service he frequented.
Hey, at least it was a "straight" escort service, and the Holy Rollers won't have deprogram him.
And it could be understandable, especially if The Decider didn't bother to check it out on "The Google".
He's free-falling in the polls, he is still purposefully conflating who exactly we are fighting in Iraq - Al Qaeda or the Al Qaeda Wannabe's, and, our Shakespeare Guy thinks that, maybe, someone in his administration might have leaked Valerie Plame's name and status and his Security Chief's heartburn is divulging sensitive information.
But if our Court-Appointed-President is confused with the term "Executive Privilege", he is no stranger to "State Secrets Privilege", as he, and his strong-armed vice president, have virtually encased this administration in cement (I mean, it could play out that, by the time they leave office - which hopefully will come via Impeachment - who are 43rd President was may be wiped from the records and sealed for eternity).
Maybe the Bush Grindhouse will throw Vitters a lifeline ... I don't know, perhaps the could release a new report, that breathlessly cautions, with full-fear-jets blasting, that Al Qaeda is coming after us...

You Shouldn't Worry There, Dick ... Everyone Knows You're A Hard-Ass ... The Results - The Garlic Weekly Poll
So what the little puke in the Oval Office calls himself "The Uniter" or "The Decider", and even "The Commander Guy".
You don't have to be so sensitive about it, as our Garlic Poll Voters seemed to think.
Everyone knows you're a hard-ass.
You are, in the spirit of the immigration debate going on, muy macho. You kick butt and expose names. You have a Secret Bunker. You bully people to give you the intelligence you want, so you can launch wars. You nailed CNN's Wolf Blitzer and then sent your wife in to slap him around some more. You go away weekends, with you old pal Rummy, for Doomsday weekends.
You earned the moniker of "Darth Vader", for Christ Sakes. You even have a protégé named after you - Cheney's Cheney!
That's about as hard an ass a hard-ass can get.
So chill out on the overseas stuff. Pitch in, and save some energy (unless, from your muy macho super-secret energy meetings, you're getting a deal or something). Do more walking, it'll help that old ticker of yours.
And, one other thing. The guys overseas don't really want to tell you.
They're gonna "yes" you to death because they're just marking time, They know you're on your way out, via, either impeachment, or indictment, or, somehow, you ride it out until January 2009.

"Karl, We're Going to Have Harriet Coach You For The Grand Jury This Time, Okay? ... The Results - The Garlic Weekly Poll
Oh what a tangled web they weave, when they practice ... Well, just about anything they do ... Their entire Administration has had the look of Spiderman, testing out a new Web Shooter for the past six-years.
The 'they" of course is our Chief Decider, and the debacle that it's turning into over his “Politically Dead Man Walking" Crony General and the politicially-motivated firing of eight U.S. Attorneys.
They've already offered a Rubek's Cube of excuses, even falling back on "hazy memories" and "Does it matter who comes up with an idea?" The glowing fingerprints of Karl Roves are shining through this, like a cheap, Grade-B murder mystery, who knows what they will attempt to spin next
First Dog Barney might want to think about hiding out in the East Wing for the upcoming few weeks.
Assuming the inevitable happens, either this week or next, who does the Chief Decider decide on who replaces his former Crony General?
Who better, if only to piss off the Democrats and sail through the confirmation hearings, then the Independent Crony from Connecticut, Joe Lieberman?
Since one of the qualifications to be a U.S. Attorney in the Bush Administration Justice Department is loyality, Lieberman is a natural, having been a former state attorney general and he was most open about it - the loyalty-to-Bush thing - with "The Kiss" and his Plan C campaign last year.
The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll March 10 - March 17, 2007

"But I Really Did Want To Testify ... Really!" ... The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll
That loud hissing sound you heard early last week was all the air being let out of our Weekly Poll.
No Dick Cheney on the stand in the Scooter Libby Trial.
No scouring, snorting Vice President looking to save the world, wage the battle, from his turn in the docket.
Our Garlic Poll Voters had the vision of where his testimony was likely headed, but we may never know what Cheney would have testified to, unless he (or his wife Lynne) writes the memoir. Or, he runs over to Brit Hume at Fox for some more batting practice.
The Results - The Garlic's Weekly Poll February 22 - February 17, 2007
